El primer plano de la Zona Arqueológica de Tollan Xicocotitlan

Antonio García Cubas, en su artículo “Ruinas de la antigua Tollan”, publicado en 1973, da referencia de la gran Tollan Xicocotitlan, lo que motivó a exploradores a conocer los monumentos arqueológicos que presuntamente correspondían a la cultura tolteca.
Désiré de Charnay, explorador francés, realizó una visita a las ruinas de El Tesoro, así llamadas por la localidad tulense del siglo XVII al XIX. Su mayor contribución fue publicar en 1885: “Les anciennes villes du Noveau Monde”, donde hace referencia de sus viajes realizados entre 1857 a 1882 a diferentes ciudades prehispánicas.
En un capítulo especial sobre Tollan Xicocotitlan, describe las exploraciones que realizó y sus descubrimientos arqueológicos, identificando que la cultura que se asentó en las ruinas, fueron los toltecas y que estos tenían alguna relación con los mayas del norte de Yucatán, específicamente con Chichen Itzá.
En la publicación del francés, se presenta un primer plano arqueológico de las ruinas de Tula, que no ha cambiado nada en cuanto a lo que se ilustra gráficamente, ya que, desde entonces, los trabajos se han enfocado en el centro ceremonial y cívico de la Plaza de Tula Grande, dejan fuera la mayor parte de la ciudad prehispánica como sería el sector del Cielito, La Malinche, El Magoni, El Llano (1ª y 2ª), San Lorenzo Xipacoya y San Marcos.
El levantamiento indica que había un camino principal que pasaba por la Zona Arqueológica con varios ramales para cruzar las ruinas y llegar la Río Tula en su extremo poniente. El acceso principal se hacía a través de un camino que estaba paralelo al rio Tula en su margen norte, pasando por una serie de campos de cultivos que hoy forman parte de la Unidad Habitacional PEMEX.
Desde el suroeste, que era la parte con pendiente menos prolongada, se accedía en sentido sur al norte, que era conocido como el camino a Santa Ana, usado también para llegar al poblado que está actualmente en las aguas de la presa Endhó, conocido como San Francisco Bojay Viejo.
En otros planos del siglo XVIII, este camino se conservó pasando por Huapalcalli, que es identificado hoy como Tula Chico y también por el montículo de La Redonda, hoy llamado el Templo a Ehecatl Quetzalcoatl donde se presupone había en época tolteca un calmecac (Escuela de nobles).
Pasando el ramal que iba paralelo al rio Tula y al camino de Santa Ana, había dos verederas para cortar el cerro en el área de Tula Grande. El más usado era el que pasaba por las ruinas de Tula Grande rodeando la Pirámide B y el Juego de Pelota 1.
La dirección era seguir hasta la parte baja del área aluvial del rio Tula que actualmente conforma parte de la Colonia 16 de Enero y de diversos campos de cultivo. El otro camino estaba más abajo del anterior pasando por la capilla abierta, siguiendo hasta la Sala Guadalupe Mastache, donde incluso todavía se conservan los empedrados, para pasar a un lado del Edificio K y continuar su recorrido hacia los cuatro montículos que están al suroeste del Juego de Pelota II.
Este camino permitía cortar el Cerro del Tesoro, para poder llegar a la zona ribereña del Río Tula en su extremo Este, que actualmente corresponde al área de la Zapata II. En esta zona había personas que se dedicaban a sacar barro para hacer adobes usados en la construcción, por lo que hoy las probabilidades de hacer descubrimientos en el lugar son muy escasos.
La importancia de estos caminos, es que formaban parte de la vida cotidiana de los tulenses antes de las exploraciones de la zona monumental de Tula Grande, ya que la mayoría de los terrenos eran para actividades agrícolas dedicados a la siembra del maíz de temporal.
Las pirámides eran usadas para sembrar maguey y en los edificios alargados como el Palacio Quemado, Edificio K y juegos de pelota se hacían sembradíos de maíz. La gente ajena a los trabajos de campo paseaba en estos terrenos para subir las pirámides, todavía sin ser descubiertas, recreando en su imaginario como pudieron ser los edificios o fantaseando qué podrían hacer si descubrieran algún tesoro, que supuestamente le dio el nombre al cerro.
Solo algunos pocos se preguntaban ¿qué había pasado con los constructores?, ¿quiénes eran?, ¿Por qué fue abandonado? y si la historia era verdadera, entonces ¿estas ruinas eran evidencias de las construcciones de Quetzalcoatl?
El plano de Charnay, muestra también los lugares que excavó, siendo tres los principales. El primero es la Casa Tolteca (1), donde se especuló que podría corresponder con una acrópolis, por estar en la parte más alta y rodeado de múltiples terrazas con construcciones ceremoniales, públicas y civiles. Desde este lugar se observaba el valle de Tula y pasaba el camino a Santa Ana.
El segundo lugar era el Palacio Tolteca (3), se ubicaba en el extremo suroeste de la Zona Arqueológica de Tula, donde la excavación demostró una construcción con paredes y pisos muy bien conservados.
El Palacio estaba compuesto de áreas abiertas como patios y cuartos cerrados donde todavía logro recuperar algunos materiales arqueológicos contemporáneos a los edificios entre estos vasijas y esculturas de lapidas gravadas.
El tercer lugar fue el atar central (2), donde se descubrieron ofrendas cerámicas, restos humanos y un fragmento de chacmoles, lo que lleva a Charnay a interpretarlo como una tumba.
Su excavación que realizó en este último lugar, no fue la adecuada para su época, ya que hizo una destrucción de las últimas etapas constructivas que llevó años posteriores a otros arqueólogos hacer una reconstrucción mediante una comparación con otros edificios mesoamericanos, proponiendo que tenía alguna similitud con los adoratorios de Chichen Itzá.
En el Plano de Charnay, también desde la plaza donde presuntamente se había descubierto una tumba (altar central), se observaban las grandes pirámides que por su posición fueron interpretadas siguiendo la analogía de las pirámides teotihuacanas como si fuera la del sol (5) y la luna (4).
Al suroeste regresando al Palacio Tolteca (3) se observan muchos montículos que rodean la plaza central en su parte poniente, norte y noreste (6). Charnay no profundizó cuál podría ser la importancia de estos montículos siguiendo esta distribución con la plaza central de Tula Grande.
Lo que sí observó es que había un Tlachtli (juego de pelota 7), que corresponde al de la parte norte de la plaza. Es probable que el crecimiento de la vegetación cuando se hizo el levantamiento no permitiera a Charnay darse cuenta que había otros dos juegos de pelota.
Por último, este plano resalta el límite sur de Tula Grande donde el río rodea al centro ceremonial protegiéndolo de forma natural, mientras que la parte norte se encuentra protegido por murallas que presuntamente fueron hechas para crear dos plataformas.
La primera donde se encuentran los edificios y pirámides de la plaza de Tula Grande y la segunda, que fue llamada posteriormente la Plazoleta Norte -donde se encuentra el Pirámide de la Luna y el Juego de Pelota 1.
El Plano de Charnay, consideramos es muy importante por acercanos a un patrimonio arqueológico-histórico de los caminos usados desde tiempos antiguos, los mismos que deben ser rescatados como parte de la memoria de los pueblos y que estos forman parte de su propia identidad, que debe compartirse con las nuevas generaciones.

Para este año 2019, el municipio de Tula obtuvo el recurso proveniente del Programa de Fortalecimiento para la Seguridad (FORTASEG), con el que tendrá más 12 millones 735 mil 531 pesos, que reflejan un incremento en la ministración en comparación con el año pasado, para equipamiento, homologación de salarios y capacitación de los elementos de Seguridad Pública.
El recurso fortalece el tema de seguridad pública, señaló el presidente municipal de Tula, Gadoth Tapia, quien recordó que adicional al total de este presupuesto, el municipio debe aportar su contraparte del 20 por ciento de lo ministrado, es decir, 2 millones 547 mil 106.20.
El cumplir con la comprobación puntual, del año 2018, en que se recibieron 10 millones de la federación y 2 millones para un total de 12 millones de pesos, se tuvo como límite el 31 de diciembre de 2018, y se comprobó en su totalidad el recurso para poder acreditar este año.
Se ha contemplado a Tula como uno de los municipios beneficiados con este programa por lo que se aplicará en obras y acciones únicamente en el tema de Seguridad Pública. Desde proveer con uniformes y equipamiento táctico a los elementos así como el incremento salarial y su capacitación para los más de 209 elementos en la demarcación, así como pago respectivo de los exámenes de control y confianza.
Seis municipios en Hidalgo contarán con este recurso federal proveniente del FORTASEG, y en Tula se esperan 12 millones 735 mil 531 pesos más la aportación del gobierno municipal en un porcentaje fijado. Se esperan también las reglas de operación sobre las cuales se trabajará.
